For the home schooling Momma... hang up the cape!

Home schooling has taken many forms for us over the years.  We are a mixture of eclectic, classical and Charlotte Mason at Higher Ground Academy.  The one steadfast rule that remains is to be FLEXIBLE.  We home school at the speed of life... whatever that may be.  Some days we can really crank it out and other days we may only make it through a subject or two and that is okay.

As a homeschooling Mom I have learned to give myself some grace.  I am not SUPERMOM, I am not perfect and my children do not expect me to be nor do they want me to be. It's hard to live up to perceived perfection... so if up until now you have been trying to "do it all" I am letting you know that it is okay to hang up the cape.  Go ahead, put it on the hook and replace it with your favorite comfy cozys, for me it is a wonderful pair of gaucho pants and my soft sweater.  Put on some fun music and dance around with the kids, start your day with laughter, love and prayer and then jump in for your journey.  Over the next few weeks I hope to encourage you with a few things we have been doing differently this year that are really working for us.  I pray that you are encouraged on your home schooling journey, that you have like minded people to talk with and offer a positive voice when so many think we are crazy for doing what we do.  I pray that when the going gets tough that you do not give up but that you look at those precious faces who call you "Momma" and you know that you are doing this for them.

Blessings to you dear reader,
Dawna

Okay, I'm close to tears on this one. I just, JUST, e mailed my brother about being GRATEFUL; grateful I just got a job! But more than that, I prayed for a happy job. I have decided to make ME happy, home, at the job, church, wherever...then it's like the pebble in the pool. It spreads to all around me.
Thank you for YOUR gratitude. The pebble in the pool effect reached my little home in the village and straight into my heart.
    Love you............Mary M. :-)
